Tanzania Iloma Espresso

12.50

We love African coffees.

We love those from other continents too, but right now Africa is our absolute favorite.

Warmth, sunshine, and nothing but sipping these juicy coffees day after day.
These beans come from the Iloma AMCOS cooperative in the Songwe region of Tanzania. 391 farmers deliver their cherries to this coop, growing them at altitudes between 1,800 and 1,900 m.a.s.l. in rich volcanic soil.
The cherries are fully washed—right after harvest, they head straight to the station where they spend about 24 hours in water before drying for 11–14 days.
In the cup, this coffee is like hot chocolate with hits of redcurrant. Coffee first appeared in what is now Tanzania in the 16th century, originally in the Bukoba region, where local varieties were grown even before the colonial era. Today, Tanzania produces an average of 50,000–70,000 tons of coffee annually, mostly Arabica.
I’m no coffee prophet, but here’s my hot take: Tanzania is the new Kenya. What do you think?
