One in a million

Okay, one in three. Three bags in Europe, and we have one of them.

A postcard from Guatemala, sent three years ago. Three years ago, I was in Guatemala for the first time and met Rau Perez, a guy who grows coffee on his La Soledad farm. This coffee is unusual because it’s a Geisha variety, which isn’t common in Guatemala. Moreover, Geisha requires special treatment, and we get fewer cherries per plant than other varieties.

We went a bit against the grain–the processing in this case is a classic washed process. The coffee is completely pure in flavor, elegant, with plenty of bergamot, tea, and a touch of tropical notes. Raul produced only three 69 kg bags of this coffee, which were shipped to Europe, and one of those bags is here. If you want a break from heavily fruity, over-fermented coffees, Roasters’ Choice for September will definitely be for you.
