STILL UNPLUGGED
There is no electricity on this farm, but there is plenty of energy – this coffee is proof!
The producer of this coffee is Mauricio Rosales. His farm is in a region that is famous for espresso coffees, but Mauricio works wonders in processing that the coffee takes on flavor notes of dried fruit and almonds.
In 1997, Mauricio and his father Guillermo bought a small piece of land and are still investing in it. After the purchase, it was a bumpy road to the farm, which was difficult to transport coffee, because Finca La Maravilla is located in the high mountains of the Huehuetenango region. Today, thanks to Mauricio’s perseverance and hard work, the road leading to the farm has been greatly improved and can be reached by car, but…
…until today there is no electricity – only a generator that runs for several hours a day! This doesn’t stop Mauricio from making continuous improvements to his processing processes, he managed to build a wet mill with fermentation tanks and a patio with raised beds to dry the coffee. It works because coffees from him are at an ever-higher level!
La Maravilla means “miracle” in Spanish – we hope you will remember it while sipping this wonderful coffee, welcoming another day!
