Juicy, loaded…
Such coffee is loaded into the server so that it overflows – there is nothing to save!
These are no longer washing stations, but factories – because that’s what washing stations are called in Kenya. Kamwangi is owned by the New Ngariama Farmers Association in Kirinyaga District. The cooperative also owns the Kainumui and Kamugumo stations. Kamwangi is the largest of the three – it has been in continuous operation since 1982!
The cooperative permanently cooperates with about 1,500 local farmers. There is strength in numbers, as Kamwangi has consistently produced some of Kenya’s most outstanding coffees for several seasons, a testament to the hard skill of the farmers and factory staff!
