This is my bucket list
But you can have it in your shopping cart right away. Every time we have coffee from this farm I get very giddy, and I think it’s closer than further to finally visit this city farm.
The farm was founded in 1890, currently, it is the largest establishment of its kind in Costa Rica – it is home to 1,800 people not only during harvest time but all year round! Every time I come across some of the tricks and tricks in Costa Rican coffees, they are from Aquiares Estate – I think it’s safe to call this farm the cradle of coffee innovation.
I met with Diego Robelo – the owner of the farm – at the World of Coffee in Milan. What an open-minded guy! I suspect he doesn’t even know where Warsaw is located, and he was happy to spend an hour talking about the farm’s history, processing ways (I was already asking a lot about fake fermentation), and the threats to the market that he sees from a farmer’s perspective. Every year I look for his beans in the offers of our importers. But I’m hopeful that this will soon end – and it won’t be long before I’ll be picking a flight for our offerings myself at Diego’s farm!
